FSM Syrena 105
The FSM Syrena 105 was Poland's answer to affordable mass motorization, featuring unconventional design choices including front-wheel drive and a two-stroke engine. Named after a Warsaw mermaid from Polish mythology, the car utilized lightweight materials including aluminum body panels to maximize efficiency. Its simple mechanical layout made it easy to maintain and repair, crucial in an era of limited spare parts availability. The Syrena became a beloved symbol of Polish automotive independence despite its modest performance and basic appointments.
