Citroen SM
The Citroen SM represented the pinnacle of French automotive ambition, combining Maserati's V6 engine with Citroen's advanced hydropneumatic suspension and steering. Its aerodynamic fastback design by Robert Opron featured innovative details like headlights that turned with the steering. The SM offered extraordinary ride quality, powerful performance, and space-age technology including self-leveling suspension and variable-assist steering. Though commercially unsuccessful, it won the European Car of the Year award and remains one of the most technically fascinating cars ever produced.
