History
Dacia 1300
Based on the Renault 12, the Dacia 1300 was manufactured under license in Pitești, Romania, becoming the foundation of Romanian automotive industry. Its simple, robust construction proved ideal for Romanian conditions and the car was exported throughout the Communist bloc. Dacia continued production long after Renault discontinued the original, gradually incorporating Romanian-made components. The 1300's longevity and ubiquity made it synonymous with Romanian motoring, with millions produced over its extraordinarily long production run.
