History
Excalibur Series I
Brooks Stevens designed the Excalibur as a modern interpretation of pre-war European sports cars, particularly the Mercedes-Benz SSK. Built on a modified Studebaker chassis with Chevrolet Corvette running gear, it combined vintage aesthetics with reliable modern mechanicals. The hand-crafted aluminum and fiberglass bodywork required hundreds of hours to complete each car. The Excalibur became surprisingly successful, establishing a niche market for neo-classic automobiles that persists today.
