History
Premier Padmini
The Premier Padmini was an Indian-assembled version of the Fiat 1100 Delight that became an indelible part of Mumbai's identity as the city's iconic black-and-yellow taxi. Built under license from Fiat, it featured the Italian car's reliable mechanicals adapted for Indian conditions. Its compact size, fuel efficiency, and simple maintenance made it perfect for taxi service. The Padmini outlived its Italian parent by decades, finally ending production in 2000.
