History
Zagato Lancia Appia Sport
Carrozzeria Zagato transformed the conservative Lancia Appia sedan into a sporting coupe with their characteristic lightweight aluminum bodywork and aerodynamic efficiency. The distinctive double-bubble roof not only provided additional headroom but also improved aerodynamics. Lancia's narrow-angle V4 engine was maintained, but the dramatic weight reduction improved performance significantly. These were primarily built for competition and wealthy sporting clients, with production limited to approximately 700 units across various body styles. The Sport represents Zagato's coachbuilding philosophy of maximum performance through minimum weight.
