History
Kaiser Darrin
The Kaiser Darrin featured revolutionary design by noted stylist Howard "Dutch" Darrin, including unique doors that slid forward into the front fenders. Its fiberglass body predated the Corvette's production use of the material. Unfortunately, Kaiser's willowly six-cylinder engine provided inadequate performance for a sports car, leading to poor sales. Only 435 were built before Kaiser ceased U.S. automobile production, making survivors extremely rare and valued for their innovative design rather than performance.
