Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Touring
The 1900 CSS (Corto Super Sprint) used a shortened version of Alfa Romeo's first unibody chassis, with Carrozzeria Touring applying their Superleggera technique over the reinforced platform. The twin-cam four-cylinder engine featured aluminum head and high compression for 115 horsepower, exceptional output for a 2-liter engine in the mid-1950s. Touring's elegant coupe body combined flowing lines with functional details like covered headlamps and carefully sculpted air vents, creating one of the most beautiful interpretations of the 1900 platform. These cars competed successfully in long-distance events like the Mille Miglia while serving as sophisticated transport for demanding drivers who valued performance and discretion over flashy appearance.
