Touring Disco Volante

The Touring Disco Volante (Flying Saucer) was a radical aerodynamic study built on Alfa Romeo 1900 mechanicals. Carrozzeria Touring's lightweight Superleggera construction allowed for dramatic streamlined shapes impossible with traditional methods. The car featured fully enclosed wheels and wind tunnel-optimized bodywork that was decades ahead of its time. Only a handful of variants were built, including spider, coupe, and berlinetta versions.
