History
Lea-Francis 14 HP Sports
Lea-Francis resumed car production after WWII with the 14 HP, featuring a twin-cam four-cylinder engine derived from pre-war designs. The company had a long history dating back to 1895 but never achieved volume production. The 14 HP Sports featured a Riley-based engine with Lea-Francis's own twin-cam cylinder head, providing good performance for the era. Hand-built construction and low production volumes meant high prices, limiting sales. The company struggled throughout the 1950s and ceased car production in 1960.
