The Durant Model 55 represented Billy Durant's attempt to compete with his former company, General Motors. It featured modern styling, a reliable Continental six-cylinder engine, and good build quality. Despite Durant's automotive genius and the car's merits, the company struggled against established competitors and the oncoming Depression, ultimately failing in 1932.
