History
Mercer Series 5 Raceabout
While not as raw as the legendary pre-WWI Type 35 Raceabout, the Series 5 continued Mercer's sporting tradition in the 1920s. The Rochester-Duesenberg four-cylinder engine provided adequate power in a relatively lightweight chassis with minimal bodywork. Sporting drivers appreciated the direct road feel and nimble handling. Financial troubles and the market shift toward enclosed bodies doomed Mercer, with production ending in 1925 after producing fewer than 200 Series 5 cars.
